An anti-terrorism court in Pakistan on Saturday adjourned the trial of seven Pakistani suspects charged with involvement in the Mumbai attacks for three weeks after defence lawyers and prosecutors did not attend proceedings, sources said.
The court conducting the trial of seven suspects charged with involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks on Saturday adjourned proceedings till February 14 after prosecutors informed the judge that authorities were awaiting fresh dates for a Pakistani judicial commission's visit to India. Chief Prosecutor Chaudhry Zulifqar Ali told anti-terrorism court Judge Shahid Rafique that Pakistani authorities were awaiting a new schedule from the Indian government.
The Pakistan government can set up a commission to be sent to India to record the statements of key witnesses in the 2008 Mumbai attack case, an anti-terrorism court has ruled.
A Pakistani court on Saturday summoned four witnesses for cross- examination in the trial of seven Pakistanis, including Lashkar-e-Tayiba commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, charged with involvement in the Mumbai attacks, for July 6.
